Contact Managers | Not finding what I'm looking for

by Leo Lowenthal
(ll7037@yahoo.com)

I'm just looking for a "contact manager" similar to the early days of contact or sales managers where I had a record of a contact, including pertinent information, could keep detailed date-stamped notes, and could schedule my next call. Everything else is superfluous. Is there anything like that that still exists, or am I living too much in the past? If you have a suggestion, I'm open.

ACT! Contact Management Software
by: Lance Meacham

Act! by Sage (Also the makers of SalesLogix) is still a good personal contact manager able to run on a PC. SalesLogix can also be accessed via lan or web client but may be a little large for your needs. Sage promotes Act as their entry level contact management application and SalesLogix as their Premiere CRM application. We upgrade a lot of companies from Act! to SalesLogix once they outgrow Act!'s capabilities although Act! itself has come a long way in recent years.

MyCCMpro Free CRM
by: Dan Silvia

I'm using a free on-demand CRM called MyCCMpro. The system is absolutely free and it's one of the easiest contact manager that I've run into. I love it! I've used Outlook, ACT, and Salesforce. MyCCMpro is by far the most user friendly online or web based CRM out there. You should try it and best thing about it is - it's free!

Single user contact manager
by: Perry

Hi Leo,

Not sure if you have managed to find a suitable single user contact manager yet?

Most new contact managers and CRM's are web based these days, which doesn't suit everybody. If you can get hold of an older version of something like Maximizer v6 or v7 - it might do the trick (newer versions of Maximizer have become rather expensive and bloated) Try eBay for availability. Check for compatibility with your OS.

You could also look at contact managers like Time&Chaos, AZZFile or EssentialPIM.

I will be adding more contact managers to our page soon.

Be keen to hear how you get on.

Good luck,
Perry

Contact Managers - Not finding what I'm looking for comments
by: Leo

Perry, Thanks for your comments. I would prefer a desktop or stand-alone contact manager, and it doesn't necessarily have to be free, as long as it isn't too expensive, (subjective) and there is a trial period.

Contact Managers
by: Perry

Hi Leo,

Thanks for popping by SmallBizCRM.

Are you looking for a free contact manager and one that is web based, or are you after a desktop contact manager?

I agree - I also have a yearning for the old days when software was lean and mean and did what one wanted, with a dash of speed. These days, and particularly with CRM's and Contact Managers, they suffer from 'bloatware' - too many bells and whistles that either slow down the bicycle or eventually get caught in the spokes and cause it to crash. And you have to pay for this!

Let me know a bit more about your contact management requirements and we can see what might suit you.

Regards,
Perry
