Oprius email needs improving

by Karen Miner Hurd
(Virginia)

While I like many of Oprius' features, I find the email to be the most frustrating. Hyperlinks are often stripped out of emails I send, even when I type in HTML format, AND do the hyperlink function. The hyper link in my email signature is stripped, leaving prospects to Copy and past my link- which is highly unlikely.

I cannot easily add enhancements like photos to Oprius without first uploading them to a photostorage progam like flickr. That's ridiculous.

I detest the permissions function. I have an established customer base and a full 50% did not re-opt-in, although they read the newsletters I send with another server. The permissions required has hampered my ability to use the relationship manager - which I depended on when I used Earnware.

The Oprius staff is friendly and helpful. Oprius is spam-phobic, and they need another way to maintain good relationships with ISPs in order to improve email functions.

I have spoken to other MLMers who use Oprius, but find the permissions system very frustrating, and thus do not use Oprius for the email at all. That defeats the purpose.

I would like to stay w/ Oprius, but because of the limitations of their email, which doesn't have a deliverability greater than other systems I have used, I am now looking for something else.

I have to agree with Oprius
by: Gil Gerretsen

I will have to agree with Oprius on the spam-a-phobia issue. I have been using Oprius for quite some time and have been very happy with the service. I have quite a community I work with and have found the Oprius email modules to be entirely satisfactory to build and expand business relationships. If you want to do group or blast emails, perhaps a tool like Constant Contact will be better for peripheral relationships. My clients respond well to the Oprius system.

Oprius Response Continued..
by: Shaun Foster

(Oprius response continued..)

When we launched our email module, we took the stance to be tough on spam. We require a double-opt from email recipients, and are happy to help our users understand the benefits of this. We've even written a white-paper that is made available to all of our users to help them understand the necessity and benefits of Emailing with Integrity : http://www.oprius.com/articles/emailWithIntegrity.html

As the Support Manager at Oprius, if a user were to ask me if we were spam phobic I would say, "Yes, and thanks for noticing!" Our policies allow us to maintain great relationships with Email Service Providers (ESPs) and maintain a delivery rating of over 99%. From our experience, a double opt in may shrink the size of one's list, but it doesn't shrink their sales. In most cases, people who don't subscribe to a list probably don't want to hear from the sender anyway. Sending them emails (not double-opted in) inevitably results in some spam complaints, and tarnishes the sender's reputation.

Oprius is designed to give people the toolset they need to successfully run their business, at a price they can afford. We offer our entire toolset, with no limits on number of contacts, email volume, or anything else, for just $14.99 per month. In a recent study of active users, they reported an average 34% increase in their sales revenue since using Oprius.

We're always sad to see a user leave us, and love to do whatever can to solve their problems. We hope to continue to improve the service for everybody in the future, and appreciate all the feedback that our users, and these forums provide.

Best Regards,

Shaun Foster

Hi Karen,

I'm glad to hear that you like many of the features that Oprius has to offer. Apart from the email module, Oprius offers Contacts, Calendar, a Call List, Phone Assistant, Tasks, Lead Capture Pages or Widgets, and Relationship Builder tools. Users reported an average of a 34% increase in sales revenue from using the toolset. We offer all of this, with unlimited contacts, emails, and everything else, for only $14.99 per month.

The email module was included to enhance the toolset provided, and allow users to have some basic emailing ability from within the system. Having individual emails link automatically with contact records, as they are sent to and from the system, is a major upgrade from what people are used to.

Obviously, there are some things that our email module does not do. One of such things is HTML emails like Constant Contact or iContact do. Those programs are dedicated to email marketing, they charge a fair price for it, and they do a great job. Like GMail (another web based email application, not intended for advanced email marketing), Oprius' signature box only allows plain text signatures. I'm always happy to explain how a user can use the "Stored Email" feature in Oprius to get some rich text capabilities in their signatures:

"...if you want to include links, pictures or other formatting in your signatures, the "Stored Email" feature in Oprius is a great way to do that. Just create a new email in Oprius and write out your signature, using any of the email editing features. Then click the "Use Stored Email" link and then "Store Current Email" to title and store your signature. In this way you can create as many signatures as you want and when you go to write an email, just start by loading in the appropriate signature, then write your email above the signature."
(response continued in Comments below.. space limitations!)
